Physicians Wound Treatment of Tampa is owned and operated by Dr. Sanjiv Rao, CWSP. A Tampa native, Dr. Sanjiv Rao has dedicated his career to advancing wound care in his hometown community. A graduate of Tampa Jesuit High School, Dr. Rao went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a master’s degree in Public Health (MSPH) with a concentration in Epidemiology from the University of South Florida. He received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University and pursued surgical training at Loyola University in Illinois and Queens Hospital Center in New York.

Dr. Rao developed a strong interest in wound healing early in his career. He gained extensive experience treating complex wounds of varying etiologies while serving as a wound care physician for the nation’s largest private medical practice. Driven by a desire to elevate standards in wound treatment, he pursued advanced certification and became board certified by the American Board of Wound Management, earning the prestigious CWSP (Certified Wound Specialist Physician) designation.

Motivated to bring exceptional, evidence-based wound care to a field often underserved, Dr. Rao returned to Tampa to open his own practice, providing patients with cutting edge therapies and compassionate care. He is an active member of the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA).
